290x Preorder price (Aus $)

Kristoff

I've been seeing rumors of it being $730-$750 USD which makes it pretty unattractive to me... we'll just have to wait and see at the official release though. I'm also curious to see if it gets a reaction from Nvidia (IE price drops).

If that $800 price tag stays true, on release date?

This card better just flat out Rape the 780!

Is the 290X meant to be competing with the 780 or the Titian? If it performs better than the Titian than I suppose $800 is reasonable but still ridiculous.

We better wait for linus and Slick to run some benchmarks so we can compare and then see if the R9 290X lives up to the hype it has made... Personally i hope it does!

If it is I'ld be very very dissapointed.

If it is... I will be very happy considering some of the rumors saying $1000+

Rumours were  $600 US launch price, concidering the 780 is $650 US I was thinking a $700 absolute max seeing as you can pick up a Palit 780 for $699 right now on sale and $729 usually.

You have to subtract $100 for it being the BF4 edition though...

Bringing you right to your $700 price point :P

Woops sorry about that :/

I hope the price isn't going to be final even if it has BF4 included still a lot to drop on a card.

I guess we have to wait for performance to come out.

well on average a 780 in aus is about $820 so if the 290x performs similar to a 780 then its a reasonable price.

If it actually releases for 800AUD that would be great but does that price include tax?  I'm hoping the 290X is less than £500.

It would appear to be $799 like it is in the link to PLE and yes that includes tax

Hopefully that price transfers to the UK so the card would only be £470, it will probably be more though :(

Hopefully.. if you wait a bit you might be able to pick up just the card without BF4 and save some money?

So people are dying to get this card when it's most likely gonna perform the same as a 780 for more money? I really don't see the appeal anymore about the 290x. The only appealing thing about it was the $600 price point but that's pretty much not gonna happen anymore.
