Need help choosing z170 board

I need help choosing a new board for my 6700k I'm picking up tomorrow. I will be going to the micro center near my house. They have good prices and price match everywhere. Here is the link I have to choose from. http://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?N=4294966996+4294963449+4294859766&Ntt=&prt=&sku_list=&Ntx=&Ntk=all

Now what I need help with. I had a z97a in my last build and it was kinda boring. Which of these boards is reliable, good at oc, lots of features, etc. I have no brand preference or price preference. Just want a board that will look cool and perform well for a decent amount of time at least.

Any max budget?

The ROG Maximus VIII Hero is solid, can get Extreme if your budget is that high.

MSI Gaming M7 Z170.

I like my Sabertooth Z170 S ;). Tons of fan headers lol, good for OC (although not best, it doesn't actually make a difference, so whatever).

Gigabyte G1, but I hear mixed things about it.

CPU: i7 6700k (4.7 GHz) | GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 FTW (OC) | Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth Z170 S | Cooling: Corsair H110i GTX | Storage: 250GB Samsung 850 EVO M.2 + 1TB WD Black | RAM: 16GB (2x8) Corsair Vengeance LED (White) 3000MHz | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX | PSU: Corsair RM850i | WiFi Card: TPLink Archer T9E | Case Fans: Noctua iPPC-2000 PWM (3x 120mm in), 2x Noctua NF-A14 PWM 140mm (radiator, painted black), Fractal Venturi HP-14 (1x 140mm out)  | OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit

It depends on budget, specific colors you like, whether you want bluetooth, wifi, and others.

Your local store is also my local store. Lol.

Theyve got alot to pick from. If you want one they dont have, theres a Microcenter warehouse in Columbus that ships pretty quick youd get it in a few days.

Im not doing anyrhing tomorrow, if you need any real help, i could meet you there and help. Since its nearby. Pm me of youd like some in person help there.

Did you buy the cpu from microcenter?  If so, ask them to throw in the $30 bundle discount.  The gaming 5 should only be around $100 after the discount, and it's got amazing features for the price.

In the past, I would agree that most will need help on choosing a motherboard. But now, you don't need help at all. The board with the board with the most RGB is the one to go for.

Intel Xeon E5 1650 v3 @ 3.5GHz 6C:12T / CM212 Evo / Asus X99 Deluxe / 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 3000 Trident-Z / Samsung 850 Pro 256GB / Intel 335 240GB / WD Red 2 & 3TB / Antec 850w / RTX 2070 / Win10 Pro x64

HP Envy X360 15: Intel Core i5 8250U @ 1.6GHz 4C:8T / 8GB DDR4 / Intel UHD620 + Nvidia GeForce MX150 4GB / Intel 120GB SSD / Win10 Pro x64

HP Envy x360 BP series Intel 8th gen

AMD ThreadRipper 2!

5820K & 6800K 3-way SLI mobo support list

Love my z170s too!  The white board for my white build is the only way to go.  Overclock as far as I need it to.

The Sabre tooth z170s has been out of stock there and newegg for the past month. That was initially one of my top choices though. And micro center tends to be out of things for a long time

Wait the westmont store is the nearby one for you too? What are the odds. And Colors aren't really a huge deal. Most of the mobo is blocked by my dark rock pro 3

Yeah I'll ask. I'm gonna return the 6700k I get too if it's a poopy overclocker. Return policy is great. If it's even above average I won't cuz its a 45 min drive

newegg has it in stock, but i wouldn't buy it there since you don't get the discount. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132715&cm_re=z170s-_-13-132-715-_-Product.  You should be able to get ~$20-$30 off ram if you buy it at the same time.

I think every skylake chip reaches ~4.5ghz.

Uh no. On the link it showed Cincinnati Sharonville. It showed my local store not yours.

So i thought you were in Ohio too.

Ive got my ROG Hero alpha and i like it.

Its about preference. Its a board with alot of features and i use most of them.

With a 6700k id say pick a mid to high end board. No need to stick a good cpu in a cheap board. Just my opinion.

Pick what works for you, look on PCPartPicker and see what boards work well with that cooler.

Might run into an unforeseen issue where the cooler is too big for a heatsink on the board.
