Nope, there isn't AMD CPU that can compare to any i5 4th generation or better.

So just get i5 6500 and you will be fine :)

There's no real equivalent, but the FX-83xx series still pulls it's weight quite well. My FX-6300 still hasn't really met it's match yet. That said, unless you can get it dirt chip, Intel is currently a better investment.

For 1080p and 1440p AMD has nothing on Intel as 8000 architecture is over 4 years old (sandy bridge days i5-2000).

The only scenario in which FX8350 beats i5 is 4K gaming because at that resolution games are super GPU dependant and any CPU bottleneck with aMD goes away. But u are not going to game at 4K anytime soon.

FX8350 gets closest to i5-6500.  U are better of paying extra for intel.  Amd doesnt release anything good until Zen early next year.  Save up,  its worth it.

If anything get an last gen i5, it will be i5 4xxx.  AMD has nothing on the plate right now that can compete with intel at the moment.

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

AMD have nothing that compete in any real way with current Intel CPU's. They havent made anything for a few years. Although having said that, the FX 8XXX line still doesnt bottleneck anything up to a 970 much. So seeing as your budget is small, you could use a RX 480/70 and be perfectly fine. Just be aware that when you upgrade next, you will probably need to buy a new CPU and motherboard too unless you want a big CPU bottleneck with whatever GPU you buy next.
