i3 6100 supported ram frequencies
You realize that if you buy any ddr4, the moment you plug it in its defaults to 2133. Its not support that's the issue. It's simply the kit you bought rated at lets say 4000Mhz was merely the tested frequency of the RAM to be fully stable at. It was intended for that 4000Mhz kit to be assigned its overclocked speed through XMP or you can even manually dial it in. Whether or not your system can run it depends on the silicon lottery of the memory controller present on the CPU, which is in fact the luck of the draw, as well as the mother board which may be limiting that bandwidth should the components that connect the CPU to the RAM be the limiting factor.
In the end, you don't need faster RAM, it won't make a noticeable difference unless you're using integrated graphics on the CPU, running virtual machines, or placebo yourself into thinking otherwise
