Remove ISP speed limit.

TommyTwommy

So I have the maximum speed my ISP offers. But my line quality is real good cuz I'm like 100 meters from my ISP. And I can have a 20% faster internet than I can. I know that because a guy who works at my ISP told me my line speed is around 65 mbps.. but I'm limited to ISPs 50 mbps. Also on speedtests my internet speed jumps to 60ish mbps but quickly goes down to 52-53. Anyways I was wondering if there's a legal way of removing this limit. Since I don't see a point of liming my internet speed when I have the best option my ISP offers and I can have higher speed so why not.

What speed are you actually paying for?

Also bear in mind speeds are limited to that extent for a vast number of reasons.
You won't be able to just get more bandwidth unless you somehow ended up paying for a better service that they don't even provide.

I'm paying for 50/10 DL/UL. But I can get 65/20 DL/UL. I do a lot of torrenting so I'd really use that speed. If I could pay for it I would but my ISP is idiotic and doesn't have that option

Get a job working at the ISP, go in after hours when nobody is around and edit your speed limit with somebody else's account. Don't forget to wipe the security camera storage before you leave. Short of that, you might be able to bribe somebody at the ISP but without having direct access to their network you cannot adjust their QOS/network port speeds. All of the throttling is down on their side which you do not have access to legally.

Short of getting a job there and altering the speed limit yourself or hacking their network and doing it that way, you could buy a business class line. Other than that, you can't, it's pretty simple.

Eh I should've known it wasn't legally possible. Well I guess I'll just wait a decade for my ISP to get better speeds.

It would be much faster if you just got a job there. ;)

Log onto your router settings page and see what the speed is there

Why is this a thing? Why does people not want to pay for the product they are getting?

If you want more speed - pay for more speed, that is pretty much how the world works and how it should be - if you want something, buy it.

Read before you post. I'm paying for the best option my ISP offers. And if they had a better option I would pay for it as well. But since they don't, I was wondering if there are other ways.

Your ISP doesnt offer those speeds. Its just how it is. It could be, they dont have the bandwidth in the area for more than a few to have that speed. Its hard to say. But they are not entitled to give you faster speeds than you pay for. Shit, they aint even required to give you the speeds you pay for.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

I did.. But what you were asking or hinting at, was how to circumvent the speedcap your ISP has given you.

There is not a legal way to do that.
