there's a difference between magnetism, and electromagnetic radiation.

 

it's like having something burn or have something explode. they're both the same principle, but one is very much different from the other.

 

EDIT: light is part of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum, when's the last time the earth magically lit up itself?

I've been in a car with closed windows with someone using a "vape" or E-Cig I think it's called before. Is that bad? It kind of smelled fruity instead of smokey.

that's the biggest reason i'm all for vaping (as long as it doesnt turn into this dude)

 

it provides the addicted smoker with what they need, if its not the chinese garbage its significantly less unhealthy, and to their enviroment it smells like a nice cup of tea.

I would imagine breathing in any kind of smokey material is bad for your lungs.

Again, I'm not talking about cancer being a problem, I'm talking about other problems from long term radiation that need further studying. And even if this non-ionizing radiation did cause cancer somehow (which I don't believe yet but keep with me) we wouldn't necessarily all have cancer once we are born because the problem with this radiation is that over long periods of time, the mutations build up. There would be an incredibly small chance of having a point-mutation from this, but because you are exposed for a very long time, these can build up. That is why cancer becomes more common the older you get. 9 months is not a long time.

it's because honestly the terminology is more than confusing at times. it's kind of hard for a human to grasp that sound is the same kind of wave as light, and eventually also as what kills you when you go sightseeing at tsjernobyl.

We've had radio waves for a long time. Remember, radio waves come from space as well. They haven't done anything to us have they? Cell waves are nearly the same @manikyath correct me if Im wrong but if radio waves dont do anything cell waves shouldnt either.

RF can't penetrate your DNA which is how cancer forms from certain type of higher powered waves. We found having an Xray done a couple time a year is actually good for you. As for cell phone towers you would need to be standing right next to it and even then you would probably just feel hot which might kill you as it boils your cells which release a toxin which can kill you in large enough amounts

What does give you cancer is living under a high powered powerline. The ones where you can stick a lightbulb just anywhere near it and it lights up

the difference is, they're on a single spectrum, with 2 variables:

- the intensity of the wave (aka how powerful and/or close by the source is

- and the wavelength / frequency. (with radio waves being more towards the long wavelengths, and that magical 2.4GHz, and eventually also gamma radiation being to the short wavelengths.)

 

clue is this: intensity up = danger up, wavelength down = danger up.

The amplitude of a wave decreases as a function of distance and the number objects that interfere with its travel. They spread out, and are less concentrated in one area. Radio waves are emitted from towers which are usually far away, and still yet emit waves that are less energetic than microwaves. Now we have little devices in our pockets and next to our faces at nearly every hour of every day. These waves do not become diffused or impeded, usually, before they reach us. It is different.

Magnets are fascinating, but just like holding different metals up to a magnet, Humans aren't made of a lot of stuff that are attracted to them, and it would probably take some seriously powerful electromagnet to disrupt those materials inside us that do react with them.

 

I mostly like to stick to the fun side of magnets

Not me but my a friend of my mothers lived under the large ones. This kind

and everyone in the family starting with grandparents all the way to grandchildren have died of Cancer. The grandkids didn't live in the house a day yet all 4 of them died of cancer. Same with every one else. 12 of them
