What is best for gaming? audiophile vs gaming heaphones

Go to solution Solved by rhyseyness,

Gaming headsets focus more heavily on "features" and looking "sick af."

This means less time/money goes into the audio drivers and audio design.

With "audiophile" headphones, all the time and money goes into the ergonomics and audio quality, with far less focus on gimmicks and "16.7 million colour RGB lighting."

I think you're on the right track with looking at "audiophile" headphones.

You'll get far better sound quality for your money than you will with "gaming" headphones.

Hope this helps :)

Hi! I am looking for some quality and relativly cheap headphones, the main use will be gaming as well as music listening. I am thinking of buying the beyerdynamic dt990 pro that as i have seen is one of the best value for money but thats not the point of the topic. My question is if i should also look in the category of "gaming" headphones so far i havent because everyone is saying that the best option is to buy an audioplile pair of headphones but why is that? I mean what do gaming headsets offer more than audiophile headphones for games?

if your looking for headphones with mics = ''gaming'' headset

if you got audio card and want high def sound = audiophile

If your just gaming and want good quality headset for cheap hyperx cloud is good.

Generally the selling points of gaming headsets are the inclusion of a microphone, features like surround sound or RGB lighting and a more gamery aesthetic. If you're interested in pure sound quality you should skip gaming headsets and get a good quality pair of headphones instead and a separate mic if you need.
