Well looking back, some PC manufacturers are dropping AMD cards (Origin) so this might be the explination...

Not that, the one OP speculating is a full fledged GK110 with 2880 cores (2688 in Titan) but that turns out will be rebadge as GK180 and use on Nvidia upcoming Tesla K40 codename Atlas.

 

like i said, 7% more powerful. not worth it, and knowing nvidia they will release it for £1000/$1000 as the new "halo" part.

680 comes out for £/$400 and they trickle out because you can get a 7970 for £350 (unless you LOVE batman and need physx)

690 comes out for £/$1000 and everyone's like "2 680s in 1 card! I'll get that!" making the 690 "the card to buy"

titan comes out for £/$1000 and everyone's like "screw the 690, titan is a single gpu!" making the titan "the card to buy"

780 comes out for £/$550 and everyone's like "screw titan, this is a deal!" making the 780 "the card to buy"

Which was why I'd asked a mod to move this from the vid card section to 'Off Topic' but the mod decided on this section instead....fine by me though as it's all based on rumor and hearsay.....pushed by TS. October 15 has come and gone, still nada, zip, zilch.....no news whatsoever.

I haven't read the rest of the thread so forgive me if you've already addressed this, but what is wrong with discussing rumours? I would have thought talking about anything be it rumour, fact or even just day dreaming was acceptable in any section of the forums so long as it was relevant.

Discussing rumors like this has its place, but NOT in the graphics card section. Since its all vaporware being discussed, it should be in the 'Off Topic' section, that is all I'm advocating. IF you have benchmarks and links to reviews and whatnot from known/reputable sites, by all means post it in the Graphics card section.

 

And no, I don't believe it's been addressed, so far, not a word on the alleged/rumored Titan Ultra......hence, vaporware which should be in 'Off Topic'.

according to leaks the titan ultra or whatever its called will have more cores than the ultra and will be cheaper than $1k to compete with the r9 290x

and most likeley will use 2 8 pins to power it

man im afraid i buy the r9 290x and the ultra got reeased for around the same price and its faster and better in everything

Well, I feel that 'Off Topic' section should be where you can discuss anything, even vaporware. If not, imagine what the Graphics Card section would be like.....full of fantasy card discussion, theoretical performance of so and so unconfirmed and unreleased cards. That section should be for more focused and serious discussion, like what card to choose, where to buy this or that card, discussion of performance of existing or soon to be released cards. This thread is an epic fail due to TS's presentation........look at the thread title, doesn't it smacks of fanboyism? Secondly, nobody has made an official announcement of a so called Titan Ultra, so it's simply hot air at the moment, which is why it deserves to be in the 'Off Topic' section. The part that I've made bold in your post is where we differ...........such talk should be in this section. Leave the Graphics Card section to a more focused and serious discussion of existing cards, performance and so forth.

 

BTW, I don't get why you are making a meal of this, it's not like the mods here locked the thread, they/he/she simply moved it to a section where it's seen for what it is......simply hot air for now, unless nV officially announces or releases it. Nope, nobody's holding a gun to my head and forcing me to read it, but such threads should be in its appropriate section is all I'm saying. And I don't mind reading such threads as long as they are in their appropriate section......what's wrong with that?
