Will i need a GPU?

Hi guys/girls,

I work for fujitsu and can get this server quite cheap: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/fujitsu-primergy-tx1330-m1-tower-server-e3-1220-v3-8gb-no-hdd-8x2.5-sv-003-fj.html

I am wondering, since the CPU does not have integrated graphics will i need a discrete GPU in order to run windows server with a GUI?

I am thinking yes but this is my first server so am a bit unsure.

Thanks in advance

Alex

no.... The thing comes with intergrated gpu so you will not need an extra one. The CPU does indeed not come with integrated graphics but there is a remote management chip baked in to the motherboard that also does graphics.

He said it didn't have a igpu, and it doesn't give a model on the motherboard so I have no way to check that either way since based on the chipset I get this http://ark.intel.com/products/75519 which according to the spec doesn't have a igpu on the board

Yeah, I assumed the OP was correct when he told us his CPU had no integrated graphics, and therefore didn't bother to fact check.

Servers normally have a 3rd party chipset that handles video. Looking at the io panel of this board it has a vga port, showing you don't need a igpu to use video and its built into the board.

Yes

There is a server graphics chip on the mobo that gives your graphics. Keep in mind though, it won't be very powerful. Most graphics chips are only designed for cli or simple gui's.

My native language is C++
