i suspect the oc button will oc you cpu to 4.2ghz, using way too much voltage :P

It's probably like all the other auto overclocking buttons, load a profile of X low GHZ and X high Voltage and show a screen saying your system performance has increased 92.4% ;)

Why does that board have a handgun for a southbridge heatsink? :P

I want to see you go X99.

Just get an Asus board with OC socket and good Ram. Some G. Skill 3000 with the lower CL.

Not that I don't want you to go X99, but it's not exactly a "fun" OCing territory. Took me x5 as long to dial in the OC on my main rig than all the little 1150's I've been bustin out over the last few months.

im looking to spend less than 160 cad for mem chips

our dollar is crap so its not even worth buying from the us. the dollar difference makes things the same price.

my only real issues is I dont need 12 or more threads for daily usage.  the power consumption increases\ heat etc.

but i like to play and the processor price is attractive.

well for the less-known companies prices are relative to CAD/USD conversion (see Geil 3000 kits), but for G.Skill/HyperX/etc. it's absolutely insane

i would keep the z97 until the x99 stuff comes down a bit in price. 3000mhz might be fast ddr4 now, but i think they will get much faster by the end of this year. also 8 pack has had a 2400mhz kit running at 3100 CL12 so no need to buy expensive ddr for now.

ADATA have 3100 C12 DDR3. Although it is the older DDR3 it can be fast if it tries.

yes i know. avexir sold a 3200mhz kit :P the only problem is with 3000mhz+ ddr3 is that it cost more than ddr4! also prokon has a some ddr3 that does 2800mhz.

2800MHz and c11 sounds tasty. What's the lowest latency you can achieve with 2400MHz?

Because I was stupid and paid more for it than my cpu

I used to have a 3820 after I bricked my 3930. Try 36x125.125, that will give you 4.5GHz and put 1.35V. With these processors you can go up to 1.4V no problem. Don't forget to dial your memory clocks back cause they will increase with the BCLK at 125. Also overclocking that processor is easy, but some settings on the BCLK don't work ok. I found out that if you want to go up to 4.3GHz it's easier to do it with the multiplier only, leaving the BLCK at 100. If you want more, put the BLCK at 125 or 125.125 as I did and back the multi to 36 and start from there. Good luck overclcoking. I used to have mine at 4.8GHz with 1.41V.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 - 3900x @ 4.4GHz with a Custom Loop | MBO: ASUS Crosshair VI Extreme | RAM: 4x4GB Apacer 2666MHz overclocked to 3933MHz with OCZ Reaper HPC Heatsinks | GPU: PowerColor Red Devil 6900XT | SSDs: Intel 660P 512GB SSD and Intel 660P 1TB SSD | HDD: 2x WD Black 6TB and Seagate Backup Plus 8TB External Drive | PSU: Corsair RM1000i | Case: Cooler Master C700P Black Edition | Build Log: here

2666 cl 11

2400 cl 10

2133 cl 9 (got close to 2133 cl8 on the 1366)

2400 cl10 matches the dominator platinums I think. Got my Samsung sticks running at 2200 cl9.

But that's an impressive kit. Getting near 2133 cl8 is awesome.

Why 125.125?

I edited the last post adding more info.

Regarding the 125.125... Well if you have your milti at 36 and the BLCK at 125 only the clock in CPUZ will be 4.498GHz and that drives me carzy. If you put it at 125.125 it will be 4.502GHz. :)

Also set the LLC and to "very high."
