GTX 1080 Questions

I've heard the GTX 1080 founders edition has thermal throttle issues....I was wondering if I just set my fan speed to 90 or 100% wont that fix it and help out or will that hurt the gpu in anyway?  Like will the fan go out in a year or two?

 

Also....If i wanna go sli do i have to get another founders edition or can I get a non-reference 1080?

no the fan will work fine after a few years, but it will be loud

to stop the boost clock from throttling you can increase the temp limit to 87C or increase the fan speed to 80%

if you want to SLI you can get an aftermarket card

but it will look weird

and the SLI bridge will only work if its a reference PCB card

you can set it that high, but it will be very loud and will likely shorten the life span of the fan to have it constantly running that much.
