its an R9 270

Alright trying to find out what GPU a friend has though I can't seem to find out through this. Tried using this http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/HowtoidentifythemodelofanATIgraphicscard.aspx#DID

but none of the numbers match up with anything which confused me a bit. ( Yes I already told him his drivers were quite outdated )

I think you can try going to 1080p and then use uniheaven benchmark or smt to benchmark it and check where the score fall into?

I couldn't even get him to download 3DMark off steam lol.

I have an R9 290, and I can confirm no it does not. The most it tells me with my 290 is R9 290 series and Sapphire/PC Partner limited, I don't see why it would be any different for him. I could go about by looking at the exact details but to much work.

Yeah, as I said I barely got him to download 3DMark ( I mistyped what I meant ) better yet run a benchmark.

After searching the release date (November 5th, 2013) it's the R9 290. The VRAM and Stream Processors are the same as an R9 290 as well.

I had the same issue with my gpu. for some reason amd doesn't want to give your exact gpu. what did work for me was pressing "lookup" in gpu-z. It opened a webpage that had my (almost) exact gpu.

It looks to be a Sapphire R9 290. 

 

It also seems to have a heavy boost clock on it. 

 

I would guess it's a R9 290 Sapphire Tri-X.

Omg that is my GPU xD, It is overclocked and can reach 1200Mhz 1500Mhz and probably higher but I don't like 95C.

I can't find a card that matches those boost clocks other than a 290. lol. I ain't good at this.

Completely ignore that GPU-z screenshot, that is me showing him that gpu-z doesn't show the exact GPU unless you click lookup or look for the exact specs. The GPU in that gpu-z is mine, look at my signature lol.
