R7 360.. can someone apply a baseball bat to the back of that retailer's head?

if you're not comfortable with building your own rig, do you have a friend/family member that is, and can guide you trough the process?

i can tell you from experience that it's much more fullfilling, and budget friendly to build your own rig.

slightly over the budget but you get an i7 and a RX 480. if you dont want an SSD then just remove it and use the 1tb HDD as the OS and storage drive. i personally still use a SATA 3GB/s HDD and im fine with it. never bothered to buy an SSD.

Using an i5 6600 or something like that could help lower the price as well without sacrificing too much performances.

but the price of a z170 board and a decent cpu cooler would make it equal to it.

be honest with yourself, how much "gaming" is an R7 360 in 2016? :P

(totally not rocking a GT640 in my secondary rig, it can game, i'd call it nowhere near a gaming card tho.)

I'm talking about the i5 6600, not the i5 6600k :) with the non overclockable chip that would be 50 to 100€ less at least, which would work with the same board and witty the stock cooler

Well, actually quite a lot. I play Fallout 4 at high settings, Warface at high, Game of Thrones: A telltales games series at ultra, World of Tanks at ultra, Grid at ultra, Dirty bomb at high, Heroes and Generals at high and even bloody Minesweeper is at Ultra High definition lol. It is a good card though for those that want to get into gaming and play games with their friends online. My secondary rig has an AMD HD4550 in it and I played on that for about 2 and a half years which is also what I called my "Gaming rig" before I built my current PC. It depends on what games the person plays so before you even start saying an R7 360 can't play games in 2016, think about people's needs for what games they play over "raw" gaming power, please.

360 CREW!!

i7s barely make any difference when it comes to gaming so I'd just save some money and downgrade to an i5-6500. Otherwise, I'd recommend this completely.

back then they did but those days where an i5 is similar to an i7 are over. you are living in the past. plus the i7 will stay relevant for longer since in the future games will use more threads. hell as of now most current gen games can make use of 8 threads already.

So I'm seeing like 10fps gains at maximum with the i7 over the i5. Okay, but let's just remember that the i7-6700k is $100 more expensive than the i5-6600k. That's an extra 1fps per $10? How the hell does that prove your point?

Normally that money should be spent on a better GPU, but at this point we don't have a new $300 flagship GPU coming out. Maybe that'll be the RX 490?

the i5 6600k is $250 roughly give or take, the i7 6700 is $300 with current gen games being able to use more threads and cores it would be a wiser option to spend that extra cash on the i7 if OP plans to keep a computer for a long period of time, most people keep their computers for more than a decade if they are not an enthusiast or heavy gamer who wants to max out every setting in the game.

I was talking about the i5 6600 without the k, and OP doesn't have an unlimited budget, so that's understandable to try and lower the price with the cpu ,since either would be just fine for gaming

still does fit in his budget though to have a 6700 non k but if he wants then just get a 6500 to lower the cost.

His budget is 750 € not 900€. There is a conversion in currency to make tp understand that's waaay above board to take an i7. It's like almost half his budget. He also needs to afford a good GPU.

Beside your argument about more cores being better. I don't if that's true, but the i7 and the i5 were talking about both have the same number of cores, and hyperthreading doesn't help that much either. I have 4 threads in my laptop, but since it's an i5 with two cores, it isn't that powerful in gaming.

But that's another debate entirely.

Yeah, they're starting to properly utilize more cores and threads, but it is by no means a standard yet. Again, take a look at any modern game and you'll notice a 15% increase in performance at best. Once games actually do universally take advantage of them, then I'll have no problem recommending an i7.

It will be many years before a big advantage in performance will be a standard with CPUs with more cores and threads, and by that time Skylake will be a generation or two behind. Futureproofing is a stupid concept: hell, even Sandy Bridge i5s still hold up in almost all modern games.

like i said it depends on the user, some people upgrade every 2 to 4 years so there no bother to get high end cpus just get mid range ones, while some people use their computers for over a decade or until they break, i mean i dont justify buying new current gen componets so im still happy with my dual X5650 Xeons and ill most likely keep them for another decade or until they break.
