Personally, I'm extremely irritated with and disappointed in Nvidia for trying to change a long-standing and logical term to something that doesn't make sense just for the sake of marketing guff.

I will continue to call it reference, but I'm curious how the rest of the community will address it.

Poll's there now.

"Do as I say, not as I do."

-Because you actually care if it makes sense.

I don't think you guys understand. They are the same, so I'm irritated that they're trying to change the name. I don't think they're different.

SNIP

I quite like the name founders edition, sounds more special than "reference" and shows that its nvidias design since they are the founder

You have to realise that 99% of people have no fucking clue what cards are called and just buy whatever they can afford and think looks nice

It is a reference card that they're trying to rename to make it sound nicer.

"Reference" is a logical and functional name, it describes exactly what it is.

"Founder's Edition" is a nonsensical name that has little to nothing to do with the design. If anything it sounds like a limited-run first-production thing.

There was absolutely no reason to change it and the new name is meaningless.

He is asking what name you prefer. You guys need to learn how the fuck to read.

To me though founder edition sounds like a somewhat misleading name. When I first heard about it I thought it would be the better binned card. Now that its just cater to what cooler is one there. Like why not call it original edition? For me personally the name makes no difference, I am able to keep up to know whats the difference, but people getting into it and doesn't do research might think that the founder edition is better because well, people are stupid? Just wait for the "My friends ASUS card is better than my Founders edition" topics... :P

I once explained to my girlfriend what true love is. I said, "If you were a shit, I'd put you back in" and to this day, she is still my little shit.

Before reading this thread, this was exactly what I thought it was. People were complaining about the founders edition being really expensive in the UK, so I was thinking, no big deal, the regular edition will be more reasonable.

i think it's very wise from a marketing perspective for nvidia to rename the reference card ''founders edition'' that way they can get an extra 100$ for it and people still feel special and think they made a good move...

-How can we sell a 699$ graphics card and still release it has being a 599$ card...so that people think it's a good deal? nvidia can pull this off.
