Skyrim Low Fps W GTX 970

So I recently started playing Skyrim again. I get like 35-40 drops when outdoors....

I got a GTX 970 paired with a FX6300 8gb Ram

Any suggestions?

Unless you emulate Dreamcast using Chankast you don't need disc image mounting software for anything else if you buy games.

fx 6300 is your issue. I had low fps in skyrim with a stock 8320 and a r9 280x until I upgraded the cpu. Especially fps drops like you mentioned because the single core performance of that cpu is just garbage.

Skyrim is heavily single threaded. To get good FPS with a FX 6300, you should overclock it.

What motherboard do you have????

Skyrim Prefers FX-CPU's with a Higher frequency over lower clocked yet more cores.

An Older PIC, I know... but it still shows relevant info, and you could find a more recent bench if you went looking hard enough.

So basically, you have to Overclock to get your Gains.

Bull there is no way both my FX-8370 and Athlon X4s manages this game on 60+ FPS! :3

Skyrim being an open world, is CPU intensive when outside, so you might be running into a CPU bottleneck.

 

Also, if you have your view distance maxed out so the game is rendering high detail graphics from far away, you might be running into a VRAM limit as that's a lot of data stored in the videocard's memory.  Ultra will likely have those settings maxed out, so I would turn that down a little and see what happens.
