1080 UK pricing is insane, £200 higher than 980 at launch

whitedragon101

The UK price of a reference 980 at launch was £430, the 980ti launched at £530, the 1080 "founders edition card" (aka the reference card) is £630.

Now it seems the partner cards will be cheaper but even so they seem to be setting the prices higher than a ti class card (at launch) and insanely higher than the usual price for a 980 class card (at launch).

Edit :

Partner cards prices just came out at £570 and above. Just crazy

Yeah it's shit I'll be getting a 1070 if the prices suck on partner cards.

Don't bother with the 1080 and 1070.

Pick us a used 980/980Ti for cheap in a few months.

Not just the UK mate. Australia has it rough too. Founders Edition 1080 cost as much as aftermarket 980 Ti's when they came out, that's like $300au more than the 980's. Price increase is ridiculous for what it is supposed to replace.

Nope, they have the reg 1080s up for preorder.

And for the US it seems to be a lot better, $699 Founders = £639 in the UK (when the actual conversion should be more like £477)

You didn't read the whole post

The partner cards prices just came out at £570 and above.  Thats £140 more than the 980 launch and more than the 980ti models at launch.

I'm not exactly sure why NVidia set the price so high in the UK and lower everywhere else in Europe. You can save a bit by purchasing from other Amazon websites, although note that no matter what they're shipped from Germany.
