Hey I was wondering if the linus tech tips forum ran off of one server? Does anybody know? I'm just wondering because if there's only one server for this whole forum then that server must be under a lot of load all the time with all these people. If theres only one server and it does fine even with all these people how many people can it serve without overloading? Also what are the specs of the fourm server/servers? Thanks

Really? I knew windspeed hosted it but how did the server get to Australia? I thought the server was in a data center in canada?

The server is barely under any load at all however then again it's massively overbuilt for running a website/forums. My major concern with it is the onboard storage as it's a 1RU running 3.5" drives. Next year I'm looking to replace it with a newer single or twin E5 xeon setup with 8 drives.

Wow. I'm surprised its barely under any load with all these people. And yea eventually its probably gonna need more storage. How much storage does the server have? Also how many simutainous users can this one server hold at the same time? Also is the server located in Australia? or canada?

I doubt they'd host it in Australia judging from all the complaints about internet speeds.

The Internet sucks in both Canada and Australia ;)

They should have it in South Korea :) They got Internet almost everywhere in the country and is ranked as the most connected country on planet earth :)

But Canada has the same problem, not as bad as Australia though...

The issue with have is not very high speed capabilities (but business lines are a different story) and the price.

Can't remember, few terrabytes. It took 1920 users with no issues. The server itself is in the US.

I thought it was out of Aus, or was that the shitty data center and you've moved it since then?

cool. How'd it get to the us? I would think it would be in canada since that's where slick and linus live. Did slick drive down to the u.s and put it in a data center here?
