I'm looking for a new monitor. My budget is about 150-170 euros. I like to game, but i also want to watch movies. What choice would be better? A TN panel with faster response time and higher Hz or an IPS panel with a bit slower responce time and lower Hz?

These are the monitors i'm talking about.

TN:

IPS:

By all means, if you have a better solution please tell me, though it has to meet the following criteria:

- Around 150 euro

- At least 60 Hz

- At least 1920x1080

- At least 23"

- Display Port compatible

Why though? Is it the previously mentioned competitive shooter thing?

Yup, shooters or mobas. If he doesn't play either of those then he should go IPS.

60hz ips vs tn is the same thing anyway.

Oh, is the TN 60 Hz? Then nevermind. I didn't look at the specs and assumed it was higher than 60 judging from his question.

75 according to the page, but even then, negligible.

That extra 15 helps in shooters.120 and 144 are not the only way to see an improvement over 60 if you play shooters. Besides modern day TNs are much better than they used to be. Like I said, if he doesnt play shooters or mobas, then he should go for the IPS.

Can't argue with that.

It really depends on one's use case scenario, but in most of them I think people would be happier with the nice colors of an IPS panel
