I'm planning on building a gaming computer soon, and right now I'm using just the average office HP computer. In my situation right now on my new pc I will be using a wifi adapter (I know that is usually frowned upon) but I need to know if motherboards come with wifi adapters like they do soundcards or if I need to get something else, and if I do what would that be. Sorry for being vague this is not one of my strong suits of knowledge.

-Thank you

motherboard usiually dont come with wifi cards but some do, i use a wifi expansion card and i have shit ping, drop outs and low speeds so avoid it att all costs. or atleast TP-links shit stains.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Some motherboards come with wifi, most don't however. You can either get expansion cards, or a USB wifi adapter if one isn't included. The Linksys AE2500 has decent reviews for a small USB adapter. I prefer something with antennas however.

Mini ITX boards can anything else is very iffy. I would check out PC parts picker. They have an option you can check for a wifi adapter built in. If not, Use a PCI Express solution.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

You could either get a PCI Express Wifi Card or USB Wifi Adapter. I'm presently using a D-Link AC1900 Wifi USB Adapter (DWA-192) and I have to say it is excellent, its like have a network cable plugged directly to my PC.

Is that even worth the price

You could get away with the AC1200,

I wanted a no compromise solution because my Wifi router was far away and separated by several walls and a staircase so it was definitely worth it for me.
