Hey guys, I'm having trouble with my custom PC that will no longer POST. Originally I was having a problem with not being able to boot past the BIOS splash screen, so I did some troubleshooting and decided to RMA my motherboard.

After getting my motherboard back, I hooked everything up, and it would turn on for a few seconds, then restart. It would do this constantly, and no video would display.

Later I tried individual RAM modules and with one of the sticks, the PC booted to a screen asking to reset to optimized default and boot, reset to optimized defaults and reboot, or enter BIOS. I chose reset to optimized defaults and reboot and then nothing would ever happen after that.

So today I went out and bout a single stick of RAM, a GT610, and a corsair CX750M, with the intent on troubleshooting the RAM, GPU, and PSU, then returning these items and RMAing the broken component.

Well, when I only put the new stick of RAM in with all of my other normal components, the computer would turn on and not restart anymore, but it would still not show video... So, I tried the new GPU with the new RAM. Still nothing. Then I tried the new PSU as well. Still nothing.

I'm at a loss of what to do. I don't think my motherboard is dead because when I sent it to Gigabyte, they said they "repaired" it. And I highly doubt my CPU is dead because I don't overclock it.

Please help. I'm to the point to where I may take it to MicroCenter and have them look at it. Which I would normally never even consider.

Here are my full specs:
i7 3930K
Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4
Corsair Vengeance 32GB (8GB x 4)
EVGA GTX 780
Corsair HX850
Corsair H100i

Parts I've tried to troubleshoot with:
PNY 8GB RAM
PNY GT610
Corsair CX750M

No one else I know has an LGA2011 CPU. I have a friend with an LGA2011-3 CPU, but those CPU's won't work in the opposite mobos right?

Well the only other step I have for you is the last step I ever take, call tech support. For no particular reason as you explain the problem and go through the steps of trying to turn it on it will, seemingly by magic, finally work right

You've replaced everything except the CPU.

Only things I can think of are try unplugging every single peripheral except a monitor or try a new CPU. I have a old 3930K that I know for sure works but the chances of you being within walking distance of my house is astronomically low. Is your CPU used? Does it have any warranty?

Lol. That would be a long walk to New York from Texas! I purchased the additional overclocking warranty when I got the CPU from Intel almost 3 years ago. I got it new from Intel Retail Edge

So you're definitely outside any warranty period.

Challenge accepted expect my arrival in 3-5 months.

Has the system been working for the past three years or did you reuse the CPU and now you're having problems?

I shouldn't be, it hasn't quite been 3 years, but it will be in June. I sent in a warranty request so we will see what they say, hopefully good news... Otherwise I'll be on the lookout for a used 3930K or 3960X or maybe Ivy Bridge-E

The best of luck on getting a warranty request accepted response.

I wouldn't waste the money on a 3960X even if you do video editing and rendering all you gain are 3MB shared L3 cache and +0.1GHz. Stick with a 3930K or 4930K. At least with the 4930K there's the added benefit of a dye shrink (32nm to 22nm) which reduces heat output and potentially increases maximum overclock.

If all else fails, how much would you sell your used 3930K for? lol

Eh, I'm currently using it on my test bench so it's not really for sale but if the motherboard ever dies I have no second LGA2011 compatible motherboard so I'll hit you up if you're still interested by then. I'd probably charge you $250-300.

Lol I figured. Hopefully Intel will honor their warranty...

So, you're not getting any video from the start, can't even get to BIOS?

Have you tried clearing CMOS after you've put in new components?

Have you tried all display outputs on the gfx card?

Nope, can't even get to the BIOS splash screen. Just all black, with 'no signal' on the display. Yes I have tried all of that as well. I have also tried 3 different types of monitors.
