Fine by me.

i've seen this video...all it says is that the reference card = founders edition...which doesn't point us in any directions other than...nvidia is asking 699$ for the reference board...how much does a BETTER more expensive design and extra marketing will ADD to the cost of the cards.

I  think that if MSRP is 599 the AIB partners will get them quite a bit lower so don't worry they will still have a decent margin to make those profits.
Don't forget that AMD competition is right around the corner with some allegedly interesting price/performance propositions.

Really don't think so.
The card over 699$ will be hybrid/water cooler designs or binned chips.
The Gigabyte Xtrem and others of the same tier will be at 699$ The Gigabyte G1 gaming should be in between with basic cards being around 599$
This ain't a Ti !

What reason do any of the partners have to sell their 1080 below $699 though? Who is going to buy a reference 1080 over ANY of the non reference versions? MSI/EVGA/ASUS do not have to compete on price and I would not be surprised to see all 1080's priced $699 or above.

The Founder's edition is signed by Benjaming Franklin himself. Nvidia spent bilions of dollars developing time travel technology to get him enslaved in their HQ and sign all of them... This is crazy, spending that much money and not delivering a considerable performance boost over 9xx series.

Bad nVidia. Bad.

That isn't my point. I'm saying the $599 RRP is misleading because there is very little reason for any AiB partners to sell below Nvidia's price when their product is superior in every single way. On the topic of competition, it has been demonstrated before that Nvidia do not need to compete on price because their cards still outsell AMD's counterparts despite either performing worse or being more expensive.

So it's just about design.

That's good to hear, so we will be able to get same performance for lower price :)
