get the 980ti, it's not like 980ti will perform worse after the 1070 release or something

When the graphics card comes out, the 980 Ti will become cheaper.... the 980 TI costs $650~ dollars right now while the 1080 is supposedly going to be $600, that card will become cheaper when the 1080 is out.

you're right - if what they've promised is true, it will be more like 200 pounds xD

I dont think Nvidia generally reduces the price of previous generations when new cards come out. Its more reducing the price in the same gen to make pricing better, like the 980/ 970 price drops when the 980ti came out.

The price will definitely change on the used market though...

Wait for the 1070, it will be still cheaper than 980ti and be almost definitely better. This person is probably selling the 980ti cheap so THEY can get a Pascal card.

Thats the thing thats a bit different this time around. If nvidia's claims are true, then the 1070 will be a good bit faster than the 980ti, however I dont think even the most desperate 980ti user would sell their card for much less than the msrp of a 1070 (godda get used to writing 1070 xD).

We have every reason to believe the 1070 will match or beat at 980 Ti.  We also know that nvidia plans to launch the 1070 at $379 (iirc).  If that's all true, used 980 Ti's are going ti be worth a lot less the instant the 1070 launches.

Used 980 Tis are already worth a lot less here in Australia. Yesterday about 20 were posted and someone accepted my offer of $500 AUD posted on a brand new EVGA super clocked card.

Currently it seems the 980ti will hold it's own fairly well against a 1080, so I very much doubt that the 1070 will get in that range.

That said, wait for actual in-game benchmarks, and the price will drop on the ti either way to compensate for a new release.

I just had a quick look on ebay turns out you were right. The announcement of pascal have made the current gpu prices drop dramatically.

You have GTX 980 right now, so I would sugest you to wait that few weeks so we can see acctualy benchmarks and you will be able to decide then.

But as you can see, prices of GPUs are droping now like crazy.

Few weeks ago I couldn't find any R9 390 or GTC 970 under 300€ in my country ... used one that it. Today I saw like 5 posts already for those cards at 250€ only.

Nvidia is claiming that 1070 and 1080 will outperform gtx titan x that cost over 1000€ right now. So users are trying to sell current card while they still have some value.

If they say it will be better, then it will need to be, otherwise we are allowed to ask for refund/return of item because of false advertising. It's like if they say that card has 2048 cores, but it only have 1024 when you get it ... you can demand refund for it. So I would buy 1070 when it comes out if I were you.

How can that be when the 1080 is supposedly more powerful than 980 SLI?

What? This was literally from there presentation how in the world would it be faster? The 980 Ti and 1080 on par according to them. You may be thinking "VR performance"

They said in the presentation that a 1080 was on par with sli 980s and that would not be the case if it was on par with the 980ti. The 980 ti is a good bit faster than the 980, but nothing more than 30%
