Hey,

Should I sell my 2 Asus Strix GTX 970's in SLI for a GTX 1080? It seems like the smarter thing to do. What do you guys think?

  • performance will be higher
  • more upgradeability
  • newer architecture
  • uses lower amount of power

so beassicaly upgrade

But the price he will get for that will dramatically go down by that time....

Then take the risk. I'm not supporting the idea of selling two great cards for something that may not benefit him for the cost.

You should sell it now.....this is the worst point of time to buy a GPU really :D

You are going to get the most for your GPU now...its value is only going to decrease from now on....

I would wait for the polaris lineup with those cards, and maybe even wait till Q1 2017 to see if you want to have a 1080 ti
I mean SLI 970 ain't crap by any means, upgrading is not something to hurry in your case.

600?

For 2 used GTX 970s? Not a chance. You could get two new cards for less than that.

Think about it this way: do you really need the new 1070? I´d imagine 2x 970 are still very nice for 1080 or even 1440p gaming at high/ultra in a lot of games.

To me SLI is so annoying there is stil to many bugs

You did see the reveal last night, right all?

That thing should be a fracking boist.

I would say sell both for 450-500 if you can and save up a little more for the 1080 if you can.

One very powerful is better than two half-as-powerfuls.

Basically, yes. It will be very worth it.

I must agree with @Godlygamer23 her. There is a metric butt ton of hype behind this card but no real benchmarks yet. I would wait until some reviews come out until you sell your cards. Also Ebay is flooded with GTX 970 right now so you would have. However if you are willing to take a gamble selling 970s and buying a 1080 you could probably get between 400-500 if you list them now.

Yes Nvida says it is faster then a Titan X. However they did not really show any benchmarks or say faster at what. Overall I think it may be faster then the Titan X because Nvida can't really make claims like that and have them be false. If you want to take that gamble that is up to you. Either way you will still have plenty of Graphics power.

Take that with a grain of salt. NVidia hasn't even announced a successor to the more developer-oriented Titan X, and the GTX 1070 is going to go for about 1/3rd the price. Does it really make sense to advertise the GTX 1070 as a successor or replacement? NVidia has made some questionable decisions, but they're all about that green. They aren't going to throw away all the money they're making in Titan X sales.
