How do I use a computer thru interwebs?

Guest

Hi

Not sure where to put this.

I have photoshop, core and others on my home pc, but I also work in my studio 3 miles away. There's a pc at my studio, is there a way to do a remote desktop from my studio to my home to access these programs? Home is win 10 pro studio is win 10 home, doesn't need to respond that fast, thanks!

Honestly Chrome Remote Desktop is one of the best ones I have used with minimal latency. However for business use I would lean more towards LogMeIn.

Generally I would also second the recommendation of Chrome Remote Desktop for general purpose use, but if you are doing photoshop, I assume image quality is one of your greatest concerns, and so the jpeg compression it uses would be totally unacceptable.  You'll need something that can transmit at essentially bitmap quality, however that is accomplished.  There are many other protocols that will do this: I believe VNC has a setting like this.  I'm not sure about the RDP built into windows but you might want to try it as well.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

chrome remote desktop works really well

especially if you set it to full screen and have a good internet connection, its almost like being right at your PC

ive also heard people that use teamviewer say that the mouse controls and better with chrome

IMHO the best thing about teamviewer is you can set static connection passwords and make the program boot on startup (in background) so you can restart your pc without worrying about needing to reconnect.

chrome remote desktop has static passwords too

you set it once and every time you want to connect you just enter the password

also idk about if chrome needs to be opened after a restart for remote desktop to be able to connect, but I'm pretty sure you can restart a PC an still connect to it once it reboots

WoL is a really...interesting one to tell you the truth.

If possible, you could have your modem/router(if supported or has dd-wrt) do it, but you need to go in and also memorize the MAC [Which, believe me, its harder than it sounds] and so on and so forth.

Windows remote desktop gives you the most functionality allowing you to click on administrator access requests and tends to be faster. Wrote it almost a year ago so it might not be the most refined feel free to ask any questions.

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Reviving this old topic for a second, Teamviewer lets you do all of this as well.
HOWEVER, because of the recent events, I retract my teamviewer vouch.

There are many ways to do this, chrome desktop viewer, twamviewer, and vncsync.

Got an Android, never going back to apple again (notice I spelled apple with a lowercase and Android with an uppercase)
