For the FX-6300 3.5 ghz, which is the best Gtx 960 4G or R9 380x 4G?

hiHi I m using the gtx 960 4GB gaming edition from msi.I bought this a while ago.. my cpu is stock 3.5 ghz FX 6300 but I noticed I m getting low fps in some games like bf3, bf4, far cry 4 when I start the game...  at the starting it remains a steady good fps.. bt after a while.. I.m getting even under 30 fps.. 

I'm exactly unsatisfied with this gpu.. 

I m using win 10 pro 64 bit latest build

driver vrsn : 364.72

what can I do? should I go for a R9 380x for my fx 6300?

1) install an older gpu driver, 361.xx or 362.xx, 361.91 for example

2) your cpu isnt that strong, so i recommend against going with amd cards due to them having higher cpu overhead

 

also, check temps while you're gaming

as well as cpu (individual cores) and gpu usage, might be a bottlenecking issue

I saw when I play large games like assasins creed syndicate my 6 cpus are at 100% usage... is it meant bottle neck? r9 380x can solve this?

Yes, you have a bottleneck. With the 380x it will be worse. Try to overclock your cpu

Can you bring your fx 6300 up to 4-4.2Ghz? it's a slight OC and it is a bottleneck so even with that slight OC, your gonna bottleneck your 960 a lot less...

low fps on games like BF3,4 and far cry 4 shouldn't be. overclock you CPU to around 4-4.2 GHz and you should be fine otherwise it is a software problem. I made someone a 6300 build with a 2gb 960 and it is performing spectacularly in all 3 of those titles, basically the same as my old i5 did.. There shouldn't be a too noticeable bottleneck.

I have G-Skill 8GB (4x2) Ripjaws 1600 mhz..

how do I oc my cpu?  can u sudgest me a proper way to do this?

Through the BIOS...before you do that, what Motherboard do you have?

Well...your motherboard seems like it has heatsinks for the VRMs (or am I wrong) but to be honest, maybe just leave your cpu alone if you have no idea how to OC :/

The FX-6300 will not have as big issue with using a AMD card as the Intel dual-cores so I think you can safely use a R9 380/380X! :D

it is a cpu bottlenecking issue and swapping a gpu wont help (or it'll make it worse if you go to amd cards)

i suggest you

1) overclock the cpu like others mentioned, but if you're not comfortable then its ok

2) fiddle with game graphics settings, some settings require more cpu horsepower

3) try installing an older driver if you havent already, i've seen 364.xx causing high cpu load issues too (but just one time)

The R9 380X will be faster, but due to AMDs DX11 drivers you will experience more FPS drops when paired with a FX processor due to the lower single core performance that current gen AMD CPUs have compared to Intel CPUs.

 

That being said, Nvidias drivers use multiple cores better then AMDs driver does, and as a result you will get a more consistent experience using the GTX 960, but you will see LOWER framerates on average.

 

In DirectX12 you will most likely see NOTICEABLE lower framerates with the GTX 960 compared to the 380X

that is an old and outdated motherboard. 

I strongly suggets you buy the ASRock 970A-G/3.1 and replace that mobo ASAP. It will be better for overclocking, have better features and be MUCH safer.

 

Older motherboards arent made to handle the FX CPUs, it may claim it can do it, but the powerdelivery isnt really made to handle the FX CPUs. So while you may fit an FX CPU in it, it still doesnt mean it is safe or smart to do so.

i3-6100 is much better than i3-4130 which Digitalfoundry tested with LMAO! But yes Nvidia still has better DX11 overheads... :P
