I have a Samsung NP550P5C-A01UB, of which the specs are an Intel Core i5 3210M, 6GB DDR3-1600 RAM and a 500GB 5400RPM HDD. The issue is it runs like a laptop with a Celeron. It's laggy, buggy and it's slow. It has all the factory bloatware, but here is the GeekBench. http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/2301140

Remove all the bloatware.

 

do a clean install of win 7, the reason it's laggy is because of the amount of bloatware that is put on these systems

 

Put Ubuntu on it and be happy.

 

Holy shit. I tried to do Intel Burn Test on this, and it was showing only 1280MB RAM available. 6GB to 1.2GB is a big drop. There is 80% RAM usage, most of which is by Service Host Local System (18) and Windows Modules Installer Worker.

Agreed. There is fricking 80% RAM Usage of 6GB.

Not just RAM usage. I just upgraded my RAM to accommodate. But how much have you tried to change in the control panel, the bloatware hides and blocks a lot of options.... Including annoying things like not being able to stop it from eventually sleeping

I haven't changed anything since it is my dad's computer. Forgot to specify that. I am probably just going to wipe and reinstall it. The issue is, I only have a Windows 8 Pro disc, and this has Windows 8. I have to discuss changes with him of course.

Use IObit Uninstaller or Revo Uninstaller to remove the programs and any traces. Or install a fresh version of Windows.

you could also use pcdecrapifier. I heard a lot of good stuff about it. Try that if you don't want to completely reinstall.

At least uninstall the bloatware and use tuneup utilities.

I'd suggest a clean reinstall. You can always torrent a windows oem ISO and use the license key that came with your laptop.

The 5400RPM drive doesn't help you at ALL.

Reading your first post, without knowing about your RAM issue... I was automatically thinking HDD speeds, so bloody slow that anything you do is affected by abysmal speeds...

 

I switched my mums i5 5400RPM drive to a Sata 2 SSD I had spare

SWEET AS FK - Runs as it was intended to be, powerful!

When you get your Memory sorted.....SSD - Do it.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I know, that's still not acceptable!

If you want to know what your laptop is actually supposed to perform like... Grab an SSD/Hybrid Drive
