Hi there PC enthusiasts. Please help me to build my own gaming desktop. I usually play CSGO and most of my friends are getting 200fps - 300fps which I don't think will be useful as I'm not plannint to buy a 144hz monitor since I'm still a kid. (maybe after 1 year)

So for now, I can only build a powerhouse desktop that will lasts for about 4-5 years from now. My theme is White and Green color. Below are the parts i canvassed, kindly please take a look guys and suggest some ideas. Thank you.. :D

If you're solely gaming, I would just go for an i5 6600K. You won't need the hyperthreading of the i7.

Get a different variant of the GTX 970, that reference cooler isn't the best thing in the world.

Grab a different PSU. The quality of that NZXT one is pretty lacklustre from what I've read. Can't go wrong with the EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G2.

Trust me, I've read it. And from the recent update, it looks like the 550W variant is fine:

Quote

Update. It's all the other way around. The 550 G2 is likely safe, while the 650 G2 and 750 G2 are not. It is very confusing to learn that the old hold-up time tests did not test hold-up time; they tested AC_LOSS to PWR_OK. With the new equipment, they have been renamed to AC_LOSS to PWR_OK. The 550 G2 has an AC_LOSS to PWR_OK time of 11ms. The 650 G2, which uses the same bulk capacitor, has double the time, meaning the 650 G2 is unsafe and the 550 G2 is safe. The 750 G2 is also unsafe, and potentially the 850 G2.

Hi Atmos,

Gaming and some programming like (Visual basic and .Net). I'm staying in Singapore wherein the CSGO server is here.

I could say that I'm a real gamer, for the peripherals, I'm still looking for a white theme. So far I have no monitor brand in mind but I think I'm gonna stick with steelseries as I have headset and mouse already.

Hi HKZeroFive,

Cause some parts will be sponsored by my brother, so I might as well buy some items that will last 4-5 years from now or so. But I only play CSGO and Dota 2 for now but I'm planning to buy the GTA V too.. lol.. :D

What video card brand would you recommend? I tried the gigabyte windforce gtx 970, but there will be not much space left for the radiator if I picked that one, also the led from nvidia geforce is green and suits my theme..

As for the PSU, I like to take a modular white type and this NZXT is the one I've found that might/probably just fine. I'm just worrying about the wattage, is 550W enough?

Unfortunately, there's no aftermarket variant that has a green LED on the side, you'll need to mod the card to do so. I would recommend EVGA as a brand, their ACX 2.0 models are something you should look at.

I strongly suggest going against that PSU. The quality is simply not good enough. From the TechPowerUp review, I've concluded this PSU has:

-Group regulated design - 85C rated Chinese Teapo capacitors

-Poor performance in crossload tests

-Poor voltage regulation

-Poor ripple suppression

-Low hold-up time

-High voltage drops

-Weak 12V rail

Just go with the EVGA model I recommended.

Yes 550 watts is more than enough

are you seriously trying to fit a h100 into matx?

Also what are you going to use for ram?

DDR4 3400 is a better option as the mobo will be able to overclock it to 3466.

Also, its only first build and you already want a theme that is very difficult to achieve without mods, spray painting booth and spray paint.

You are starting out very unconventionally with mid to high-end components and a smaller form factor.

The difference is that it will be difficult for a beginner unless if you have a friend who has build mATX PCs before to assist you during the build.

But I have some tips for your build.

AIO liquid coolers have leaked before but corsair has a 5-year warranty on its AIO coolers.

There's no need to worry about the theme on the graphics card, just use led strips and make the whole internals of the case green.

get a white case to match your build theme and a MSI GeForce GTX 970 100 Million Milestone Edition Graphics Card instead of the normal Nvidia card because it has green pre-painted on it.

Optional corsair 120- 140 radiator AIO coolers are: h55, h60, h75 and h90

But if you upgrade to a bigger form factor you can fit any size radiator and anything you want because the height will no longer be limited so even the tallest and longest graphics cards will fit.

those were just recommendations you can concider.

Thanks Mr. Random person for the suggesting on the MSI GeForce GTX 970. Would it be nice also if I place the Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970? I mean what radiator size i must look for if I want the Windforce as my GPU..

Ok, let's set aside the theme green as I can also put LED lights inside, would you recommend a white RAM and would it be nice if I include a reservoir for the cooler?

Not sure the PSU is good but for the RAM I advice you to get 2666MHz or 2800MHz unless you want overkill and go for 3000MHz+ but then it normally cost quite a bit more so my advice is 2666/2800MHz but for PSU anything gold rated should do mostly... ;)

AIO liquid coolers don't have anything to do with the graphics card. But by looking at your case, you should get the 120mm AIO liquid coolers. If you want you can get the 240mm radiator coolers but those might be a tight fit.

AIO liquid coolers don't need and don't have reservoirs, hence the name "All In One Liquid Cooler".

The white ram sticks would be great with your build, but to finish it off, get white LEDs, not green.

I suck a typing, preparw for typos.
