Will a Pentium G3258 bottleneck a 750Ti?

You'll just have a 'not great' experience (stuttering) in certain games due to the two cores and threads of the Pentium.

I have the pentium G3258 overclocked to 4.2Ghz, and i can tell you it doesn't run all games very good. CSGO runs perfect, 180 fps in combination with an R9 280x.

However, GTA runs like garbage, Rainbowsix has about 45/50 fps at best.

Yeah, that's what I plan on doing. It's a build for a friend

Alright, that helps  recommend any other budget CPU's that can do better maybe? Quad core?

AMD 860k

OR save up for cheap locked i5 and budget board

Best budget CPU is the Athlon X4 860K
After that - the i3 6100
Next is the i5 6400

If the FX 6300 is cheap enough, it's also an option tho not the best one - performs around the level of a i3 4160 in modern games but struggles in older ones.

Thanks that helps. I'm trying to do a less than $500 dollar build with monitor and keyboard for a friend. Is a X4 860K + 750Ti good?

Better than the G3258. 4 threads, overclockable. Only downside is not as good single core performance which can have an impact on games that love strong single core performance but due to the dual core you might experience some stuttering on CPU demanding games as others have said, such as GTA V, Witcher 3 and Fallout 4.

I always recommend AMD CPUs + Nvidia GPUs on really low tight budget builds due to the fact that AMD has better offerings for CPUs and thanks to Nvidia's driver optimization, they have lower CPU overhead meaning your 860K won't get hammered to the max.

Don't throw your money away on an AMD cpu/mobo.

3258 = lga 1150  Save up and buy yourself an i5 4690K.  Over clock it and destroy even AMD's best cpus.

 

I bought a 4690K from Fry's for $199.99

 

You can still play GTA5 on 3258 without stuttering.  MSI Afterburner + Rivatuner and throttle it to about 45fps.  Not bad performance.  Still better than consoles.
