Well my gpu died and I have no way to get a new one until about July this year 

 

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this old radeon 6450

What do you mean "its broken"? No signal output? Graphics Bugs? Artefacts?

Maybe consider doing an rma

what do you think we are, magicians? tell us more about the defect. is it overheated? is the cooler come loose? is the vrm burned down? all of these cases means you have a FUBAR

If you have to wait until July, at least you'll have a new select of shiny GPU's to pick from.

I have a feeling that it shorted 

I had to replace the heatsink the other night because I dropped it and the heatsink got cracked so I replaced it and I heard a noise and then smelled something like a burning smell and I removed it and looked at it and on the back it had a big black mark on the back of the heatsink when I pulled it apart

when there are black marks at the back of the card. the oven will not do anything for you. you have a FUBAR. 

f*cked up beyond any repair.

Don't do it unless you plan to replace your oven, do not cook a gpu then cook food in that same oven. Its actually dangerous...

yeah didn't linus make a video visiting the guy who hated the oven method and showed the proper way of going about this? 

It's just a 6450. go cut the front lawn and buy another one...

still dont know how my 6970/6950 setup is still going after all these years...

just run integrated graphics until you can afford one, or buy a cheepo GPU off of craigslist. From the damage that you mentioned, repair seems unlikely.
