Samsung EVO 850 SSD 500GB VS 1TB. Need Help.

I'm now buying Samsung EVO 850 SSD https://www.scan.co.uk/products/500gb-samsung-850-evo-25-ssd-sata-iii-6gb-s-mgx-3d-v-nand-512mb-cache-read-540mb-s-write-520mb-s-98k

 

I'm not sure what the difference is between 1TB and 512GB one. I don't want to waste money needlessly.

 

Is the speed same in 500GB 2x SSD in RAID or they're exactly the same?

 

Is single 1TB as fast as 500GB one but it just has bigger capacity?

 

If someone could explain everything to me I'd be happy, thanks! :)

Buy the 512gb one and get a cheap hdd that's 400gb or more

saves money

In RAID 0 (which is what I assume you mean), speed about doubles. But it is very unreliable, since if one dies, you loose all your data

Unless you really need a lot of fast storage, 500 GB is fine with a 500+ GB HDD (I recommend at least 1 TB HDD)

In this case, what is the point of RAID? Does it improve the write and read speeds?

Unless you really need a lot of fast storage, 500 GB is fine with a 500+ GB HDD (I recommend at least 1 TB HDD)

Depends on the type of RAID. Linus has some videos on the different types:
