How come pc gaming is "Dying"

zerouplol12

First was Console and PC, now its Console, PC and mobile market. It divides in 3 categories and many people found "mobile gaming" less problematic than console or installing a game on PC.

Wanna see if PC gaming is dead? Check Tomb Raider sales on PC or Bioshock Infinite in 1st week and 1st month.

The summer sales saved those 2 games from death.

Edit: Are you saying PC gaming is dead? The sales for those 2 games weren't that high. Or at least, nothing fantastic. The sales were when everyone got interested.

If you say soo. I personally bought them on 1st day of release and with Tomb Raider - square Enix said sales went good, but not superb. On Bioshock Infinite people from 2K were pleased...

As people get older, they have less and less time to spend playing games and money to spend on gaming itself. Consoles are significantly cheaper upfront and as is mobile devices. A phone and a $1 app? Cheaper than a PC.

I find this not to be quite true... I would agree if you said: As people get older, they get lazier.

I'm married, near my 30s and play on every device I get. Its true, I spend a lot of my free time with my wife, but I also spend a lot of time on gaming. I do so with my PC, and when my wife wants to chat on her Facebook and edit photos for hours on end, I switch to my PS3 (right now we only have one PC, working on getting her a laptop).

When I go on a trip, I just go mobile. I'd say gaming has gotten a lot more practical, which is nice; but PC gaming remains the niche. I believe there has never been more room for indie developers to thrive on PC and consoles than right now.

Gaming is diversifying, but PC gaming will never die

It's dying because it's not dying.

I get 60 frames at 1080p on a dual core APU. Ask me how.

Yes, the sales were pretty good, but nothing huge, really. If you think about it, the sales are what made them most popular. Player count increased 3-4 times (or so) in both games.

(Off topic, but I feel slightly bothered by the fact that the sales are what made these games so popular, and everyone started paying attention because of the sales)

It's dying because it's not dying.

So you're saying the growth of PC gaming will be it's end?

I suppose. It's kind of like console gaming, if you think about it :P

That is true; if you like PC games though, you are forced into being technologically proficient. Unless you have a ton of money and don't care about anything ,I guess.

For non techies though, I find Facebook has done a great deal involving them with gaming, so much more than mobile devices... because if you are not technologically inclined and you get yourself a tablet or smart phone for work or proficiency related reasons, you wouldn't be inclined to game with it anyways.. or at least not as much as if you get such device for leisure with work or proficiency being a lesser concern.

If only there was a dislike system, but if that was to happen then this site would need to be from the forums template.

Do yourself a favor and go to steampowered.com and see for yourself how many users have been online in the past 24hrs

That number doesn't indicate to me that PC gaming is dying. If anything, the long console cycle has turned people on to the world of computer hardware like myself.

It's actually growing. Steam reported breaking 6 million people? Although they aren't all active, it still shows an increase interest.
