my esc key broke off, what do i do?... :(

Ok so my K70s esc key broke when i took it to this LAN party(the LAN was pretty freaking great :D)  and it wasent the key just falling off, no it broke the stem of the key off :( i still have the key but what do i do about this? should i use super glue or get a new switch and solder it in or something? i could steal the End key i guess, never used it and im not sure what its suposed to be for anyway, but i dont know if i can do that, i could also emulate a new esc with software like sharpkeys i guess but that wouldent really solve anything. well thanks for any replies and any help here :)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

superglue would be a short term solution, if your careful, otherwise you'd likely just ruin that switch..

soldering a new one can be tricky but well doable, it's just annoying because usually the metal backplate hold switch in with clips on the switch, plus they're soldered in so it's somewhat need a third hand situation. probably the best option though.

yah i mentioned  but that dosent really solve my problem IMO, becaiuse i will still instincivly reach for the esc key(the broken one) and not the end key, and if i get used to it it would be really acward to use someone elses computer :)

I know how it feels...I have a software mic mute which uses scr lk but my sound card is being RMAed so now I have to force myself to use the one on the USB soundcard (as the volume isn't actually controlled by windows but the actual circuitry in the sound card :/ ) that came with the cloud 2's...

You could buy a replacement switch on ebay and then just pop the switch apart like in the video below and replace the stem.

Edit: As it has been pointed out, this unfortunately won't work on a K70. I would recommend you contact Corsair and see what they say, they might be will to repair the keyboard for you, or you could hunt around for a good local electrical repair store who could replace the switch for you if you don't feel up to replacing the switch yourself.

It would be nice if people stopped recommending this as an option when it really isn't. The switch has to be desoldered and removed to open it.

This, the plate prevents it bing opened unless it has the proper cutouts ( but any mass made keyboard won't)
