NVIDIA Tegra Note 7inch tablet

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7341/nvidia-announces-tegra-note-nv-designed-android-tablet-sold-by-nvidia-partners

The Tegra Note features a 1280 x 800 display, 1GB of memory and of course a 1.8GHz quad-core Tegra 4 SoC.

1280x800 display and 1GB of memory . Seriously nvidia ?

If both of those were doubled then that would be a tablet worth looking at but this... is quite disappointing :/ Then again it is their first tablet so they will improve with time.

EDIT: Also if they are planing to compete with the new Nexus 7 priced at $229 then I think I would rather pay the extra $30 to get the 1920x1200 IPS display and 2gb of RAM :/

It's $200 bucks folks, of course it'll be rough around the edges, while it might seem cool it'll probably be completely overshadowed by Intel's upcoming x86 compatible $100 tablets.

They are learning from the mistakes of others like Sony. Instead of releasing a high end tablet that no one will buy because they can just a get an ipad, they are planning the saturate the market with a cheap tablet to gain a consumer base before they can compete with larger entities.

This entirely.  Also Google's efforts in devaluing hardware in tablets is paying off.  The general consumer wants cheaper tablets.  A year ago if I went into Bestbuy I'd see tons of ipad displays and lots of people looking to buy.  Now I see rows and rows of cheaper, budget tablets and tons of people around them looking to buy.

Depends on what you mean by "first tablet". The original Nexus 7 started off as a tegra tablet before Google took interest in the project and Asus was the chosen partner. Weirdly the only different thing spec-wise from the old Nexus 7 is the Tegra 4 chip.

I mean the first tablet Nvidia produced themselves not another company using their technology.

For that matter this will not be produced by nVidia, just like their GPUs they will be produced by their partners.

Well it is a 7inch display... 1280x800 is actually really good. 10h of HD playback.

It's a decent tablet.

I guess Nvidia assumes that it will be used for gaming, so that resolution is fine. If it's 1080p, the GPU will struggle for no benefits.

So a nVidia just revealed a tablet today. It's actually really cool its boasting a Tegra 4 and a Cortex A15. Nothing on RAM, however the Screen is somewhat disappointing in my opinion. It's running a 1280x800 Res on a 7 inch Tablet. The tablet has front facing speakers. As I have the HTC One M7 I am a big fan of that. nVidia says it has 10 hours of battery life and 16GB's of storage expandable with MicroSD (seriously why can't we get SD? i mean 128gb sd card yes please). The tablet has a stylus, MicroHDMI (DVI anyone?), and a 5MP front and rear camera.

Nexus 7 doesn't have a Tegra 4, or pressure sensitive pen support.

Or microSD.

So basically the choice is:

Tegra Note:

30 dollars cheaper

More powerful CPU (not sure about the GPU performance)

Stylus

Front facing speakers

microSD card slot

Nexus 7:

Updates directly from Google

Twice the RAM

Much better screen

Better WiFi

I personally would go for the Nexus 7, but I don't think the Tegra Note is a bad tablet for the price.

The price isn't bad imo since it has great features like microsd card and a pressure sensitive touch screen. Hope that Nvidia releases the OTA updates shortly after the Google stock version comes out. Personally think that 1gb is enough since the nexus 7 2012 version is still pretty smooth even though it only has 1gb of ram.

I don't really see the Tegra 4 outperforming whatever's in the Nexus 7 given that it's (reportedly) only using 1 GB of RAM. That said, a digitizer does help make it more appealing: I may not go for lower resolution and less power just in general, but that doesn't mean I actually need them as much as it would be nice to have a good digitizer-enabled tablet.

... assuming it IS a good digitizer of course.
