what if you want both gaming and ws

plez help i need some info so far the motherbord im looking at is ASUS Rampage V Extreme (im going for more of the gameing side)

It's possible. Just go with an Intel Core i7 processor, 32GB of RAM, and powerful consumer GPU (GeForce or Radeon depending on what programs you use. Some use CUDA, some use OpenCL. But most use CUDA). I would also go with the Asus X99-E WS instead to better fit the workstation aspect

True. Skylake is still a very capable processor. While I agree that X99 is more of a suitable platform for workstation applications, I intend to use Skylake for my intended purposes.

oops, forgot the cores factor. Then yeah, whichever has the most cores is probably best

x99 platform would work better as a workstation. There are no downsides when using it as a gaming rig compared to Skylake.
