GPU chipsets and the importance

Slokovich656

Is there a difference in performance if the specs of 2 graphics cards are the same except the chipset? and by how much? say a gtx 960 chipset against a 980 ti at 4gb of ram on battlefield 4?

yes. that's the main difference between graphics cards. 980ti is like 3 times more powerful than 960.

The 980Ti is at least 3 times more powerful than the 960..

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!

When there is no danger of failure there is no pleasure in success.

the 980ti is way way way way superior to the 960.

Any reason as to why? Faster core clock?

Completely different architecture, more transistors

Figures. It seemed that way and thats what i was thinking but the actual performance difference. Is it a big change was what i was really wondering.

you can see visually how much larger the core is

actually, the architecture is the same, Maxwell v2

what differs? number CUDA cores, memory bandwidth and whole lot of other stuff:

same architecture (Maxwell), but more of dem cuda cores :D

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

960 is GM206

980Ti GM200

I mean, it's maxwell generation, but the chip is completely different in design

sure you could say they have the same architecture.
