Price for HD 7970

JFischer00

What would you pay for a HD 7970? I found what I think is a pretty good deal for 7970's on Craigslist. There's 10 3GB XFX cards at $100 each with a "discount for purchasing multiple". I was thinking I could maybe buy a couple to sell on Ebay or something, but I wanted to know how much they're actually worth to know whether that idea's worth my time.

depends on the type/edition. Lower end is like $200 and powercolor is like $800usd.  But that's from retail, not just an ebay seller.

Your problem will be can you move them at a decent profit.

I bought mine for $125, but the plastic shroud is pretty beat up. These days $125 is still a good price for one in good condition. The most I'd pay is $145, though.

Prices in USD.

I used to be quite active here.

They are all this edition. That reason (need to get a good profit) is exactly why I am wondering whether it is worth it.

That card should be about $500-600. Even with group sale, anything below like $300 is shady.

No, it should not be. The HD-7970 in performance is around an R9 380 at best. I don't think you know what you're talking about.

He has no idea what he's talking about.

If they're $100 each, you really need to look for signs of wear. They might have been used for bitcoin mining, which tears through GPU's. $100 is cheap for a good 7970. And yes, the XFX one you listed is a good one.

I used to be quite active here.

Ok, well it doesn't seem like a great idea to go for this.

Ask the seller if he is willing to show the cards working. And preferably with a stress test. If he's not willing to do that I wouldn't risk it.
