The Best AMD GPU

Uh...

" GTX 970 works better in CPU-bound scenarios and tessellation bound scenarios and is best paired with lower end processors "

I was the only one saying this for a long time. But it is still relevant here, AMD's driver overhead would make a R9-380 and a 945 a very bad combination.

Any AMD is a bad idea. I see in your signature some of my posts rubbed off on you, but not enough apparently.

Making a lot of rationalizing threads no doubt.

Just no.

So what?

What amd CPU would i get then, the 9370?

none are up to the task of powering any modern GPU of this caliber...especially not the FuryX...and yes the 980ti is faster than the furyX pretty much across the board.

Im planning on seeing if the Zen fits in my PC, or ill just buy one of the FX8 series

I dont think it will fit in your case. Zen will be Am4 with DDR4 and a new motherboard. so if you mean by "fit" by getting a new motherboard, ram, and the zen cpu, then it would probably fit.

The 390, 390x, Fury nano and Fury X are all beast cards......

The 390 is the best value......Also the Nano is very good value.

As already mentioned Zen won't be on the current sockets that AMD has right now.

An AMD CPU/APU isn't a very wise purchase right now because Zen FX is like 8 months away.

The impending launch of Zen makes me even questioning if I want to invest into LGA1151 this summer.

@Chimras Though if you must get a CPU and GPU now then sure get an FX 6300 and R9 380X or R9 390.

hi chimras :D guys dont bother suggesting other than amd stuffs, he's hardcore red

atm the best single AMD GPU is Fury X and the best(?) AMD single card is 295x2 while the best value AMD card is probably the 390

to fit your current system, only the 390 makes sense since your cpu will bottleneck the gpus

my suggestion, since you're waiting for zen, might as well wait for polaris too :3

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Look at the 9590. Then think the 945 is even slower.

The test is designed to indicate CPU impact on performance. Such graphs are very unique finds. Because most reviewers test GPU's and CPU's seperately, never in conjunction.

well yea, i know the cpu he have will probably bottleneck all 3 gpus, thats why i suggested him the cheapest out of the 3 i picked since he's going to bottleneck them anyways -shrug-

and my final suggestion was to wait for polaris + zen

do we know really much about zen? like power consumption and maybe how many GHz it will be?

both irrelevant,,,what we need to know is IPC and price...

not rlly, but since zen is on a a smaller transister size, it should be more power efficient :D

thats all i can tell for now, the others are just rumours

They're not. Now granted, all those games are very CPU heavy and really bring out the worst.

Clock speed is directly related to IPC.

IPS stands for Instruction Per Cycle(Clock)

it means how many "lines of codes" a cpu can process in a single cycle

how many IPC does an I7-4790k have?
