Fractal Design R5 See thru glass quality ??

Andrew9205

Hello guys,

I found a Define R5 at a really good price and was wondering if any of you could tell me if the side glass panel is high quality when it comes to scratches and that kind of stuff over time.

I own a shitty Raidmax Aura ( turquoise ) and have to change that piece of crap especially for the fact that it's hosting a Gigabyte 280X windforce and getting in the area or 70-80 *C and with some exceptions when it goes slightly past that.

I chose the see-thru R5 (like the crap Aura) one because I love to see my PC even though it's not LED illuminated and not high end , I can basically read everything I want to read without getting the side panel down and believe it or not ,in some cases is a blessing.I'm just a geek for PC parts old or new.Oh ,and I chose the R5 because I want a pc case I will use from now on and never getting a new one for many years to come.(or NEVER)

The Aura got some really ugly scratches on that cheap plexy and that why I'm asking about the glass quality.

Thank you,Andrew.

Heres a pic to feel my pain

The Define S had some really soft material (from my experience I personally believe it is PETG). I spent 20 Dollars on a glass sidepanel mod (went to local hardware store, bought clear glass cut to size and black RV silicon). I think the results speak for themselves...

100% I would recommend it.

Although sorry for the grainy images...

It's not glass, it's acrylic. And it's fairly good with not getting scratches.

If it is anything like the Define S window... I scratched it from the dust sitting on it using canned air...
