Posted March 10, 2016 I really like the mITX cases available these days (Phanteks Enthoo ITX) and my new gaming rig will be single GPU and air cooled. mITX boards have fewer power phases though, so are they suitable for a decent (nothing extreme) overclock on an i5-6600k? Posted March 10, 2016 Yeah they are. If you want extreme though, you should look into the Impact series from Asus. They have an extended VRM board. Posted March 10, 2016 I can't overclock my 7850k on one of the highest end mITX mother boards for FM2+. So I don't know, it may be different.

Thanks - ya I've seen that and I am definitely not interested in a premium board. I've just heard that power phases are important for overclocking and often overlooked, so I thought I'd ask the forum. Is anybody using a mid-range ITX board with a k series CPU? More power phases can help with stable power if your really pushing things but stands out usually for very high voltages, most of the mitx ones like theses would be very capable of getting pretty good overclocks: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157650 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132641 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130880 Updated Modding FAQ
