Does that fan dangling down from the PSU actually make any difference compared to a normally mounted one? xD

It made like 1°C difference :D

Happy to see this machine is still going strong after all these years!

note, no overclocks at all. This machine is used as my home workstation primarily, gaming occasionally. I might overclock it in the future, but I'm more a fan of stability than anything else. Last time I dabbled with overclocking it would boost to 4ghz but stability on air cooling was compromised, so back to stock clocks it went.

i7-950 @ 3.07ghz, air cooled

24gb triple channel rams

R9 290 (stock clocks)

GPU drivers are from mid-2015, haven't updated in a while.

I think a video addressing or investigating the issue with the steamVR test where older cards are scoring hire than newer and "better" cards. Like issues with inconsistency of frame rate shone wile running and the final results as well as other inconsistencies which I believe need an explanation.

i7 3820@4.3 ghz

16gb ddr3 1333@1600 mhz

R9 290 @1170/1450 mhz

GPU overclock really helps with the score. Got 8.7 with 1200 gpu core, but unfortunately it's not stable...

My upcoming build should be VR Ready...

i5 6600K

and

R9 390X (Or Polaris/Arctic Islands equivalent)

Though I'm not really interested in VR right now. Maybe when the Vive is a little cheaper.

VR can't handle that.

was worried my old CPU, mobo and ram would be up for the task, but the results speak for themselves:

Woop now you only need a vive or oculus. :)

Thinking of getting the 1080 and a HTC vive with a 2600k.

@Cruorzy I was afraid that my i7 2600 was going to cripple my machine's result, but it went just fine. It's a similar build to what you want to get.

Damn nice, are you actually going to buy one of the headsets? if yes you should post your experience with it :)

Probably somewhere late next month as I have very little time to play with them now :)
