Cannot see My Samsung 850 EVO ssd

I bought the ssd just yesterday and wanted to set it up today, and i connected the sata port and power and it can see the disk in the bios but not anywhere else... so i just want to know what can i do for my pc to see it =/

Have you tried formating it with Windows? That's what I had to do with my RAID 1 array anyway.

Tips : Try Windows device manager

But it doesn't detect it in there that's the problem

Have you looked inside your case?

Now seriously, do you have another machine where you could test the drive? Maybe the drive is DOA

No i have only one PC don't have any other machines to test it on =/

Have you tried with linux? You can use a usb as a temporary boot device to test and format the drive with linux.

Ummm i haven't tried that, and i don't have the linux so ill need some time to dl it and try that method

Is it new? I had a similar issue with my Evo but was able to initialize it with the help of the Samsung Magician Software.

The software doesn't see it either, it says it couldn't detect any ssd connected

Try reseating the cables or use other ones. You can also check if you have AHCI enabled in your BIOS.

Its different on some BIOSes

 

Advanced > IDE Config > Configure SATA > IDE/AHCI/RAID

Just look for something similar.

AAAH! I solved it, i turned the external support in bios for the sata and it now see's it yaay ^^ Thanks all of you guys uh im just not experienced with PC that much even though i sit soo much next to it

Yeah I feel ya, when your first building the stress of working sumting out for yourself as quite a step up from the planning process.

Yeah xD, phew but it works uhh i've been sitting with it for 3hrs and started panicking already cause im kind of very limited with my money atm soo if it didn't work that would have been a trouble ...
