Single card anytime over a SLI/Crossfire setup since with dual gpu you'll run in a shitton of compatibility issues.

2x 970s will destroy a single 980, they usually beat a 980ti on max and average FPS (lower minimals), especially when you can clock em to around 1500mhz .... (don't know what a 980 clocks to)

 

That performance relies on SLI support in games (every game ive played so far has SLI support apart from Just Cause 3) and also consumes more power and dumps more heat in your case (unless water cooling - see sig build)

 

I would normally advise someone to get a single stronger card, but in this scenario the 970's will lead by a lot. However if you are buying 2x 970's then you must have the funds for a 980ti, in which case take the ti

Haha yeah, If otherwise you already have a 970 but want to add another one wait until pascal/polaris comes out and get in the single GPU train again,.

seems that price is an error, but hell I would have bought 10 at that price and ebay'd them
