What are you into computers?

What is your budget?

I have an Anet A8 as my project printer and a i3 MK3 for when I want things to work.

I extrude my own filament and haven't saved a penny yet.

My PC:

Spoiler

CPU: Intel i7 8700k

Motherboard: MSI Z370-A Pro

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V (2x8GB) DDR4-3200

GPU: GTX 1070 Founders Edition (OC'd)

Storage: 2x 2TB Seagate 5400RPM, 128GB ADATA SSD

Power Supply: EVGA Supernova 750w  B2

Cooling: Noctua NH-D15. 3 Intake Fans, 2 Outtake

Case: Fractal Design Define R6

I made solar panels using couperous oxide and then compared it to other things.

My sister made a windmill energy farm expirment.

Get a raspberry Pi and program it to do something extremely specific but useful. Make the whole contraption look cool, I suspect raspberry pi projects are over done at this point.

Ok well that ruins my idea.

You could build a solar battery bank that will charge devices I am kind of out of ideas

What tools/machinery can you access? Do you have any local car scrap/junk yards? Do you have any friends/family who can help and has access to any of these I mentioned before?

Finding a turbo is preaty easy in junk/scrap yards to build a turbo-"jet" engine. You can build a candle powered "steam" engine. You can try to build a electric "rotor-motor".

How about building a "cat-peat/litter" powered rocket while making the engine yourself and buying one and comparing them head to head or maybe a chemical/pressure powered rocket? Build a telescope with tin foil and stuff like that? "Smart" arduino/anyother bedroom witch closes opens your window shutters? Maybe build a laser from CD readers? Maybe a strong-long range light ( theres one in the forum)

Buy an arduion a couple of sensors and make something out of that. A weather station is quite easy for example wich then could communicate with a webpage. Or for this the new Raspberry Pi 3 would be good since it got wifi. (If you get a arduino you would need something to get it on the web as a wifi card these usally requires some soldering which is fun but they cost around 50 and the new raspberry only 35) It's both some soldering and also quite a bit of programming (quite basic stuff though so you can find all resources on the web).

A super easy to do "experiment" would be to DIY a homopolar motor. Involves any metal based malleable wire, neodymium magnets, and batteries. You can awe the people that pass by then explain all the science behind it xD

btw, if you do this project, careful the wire gets HOT, just keep that in mind.
