3440x1440 GPU Selection

Trav_X

I'm only going to be playing games like LoL, CSGO, Smite, Payday 2, which run fine on my 750Ti at 1080p. If I get 3440 ULTRAWIDE 21:9 as my new gaming monitor, do you think I could run those games at native resolution with maybe like a 960 or 970? Is there an AMD equivalent that is a good 3440 ULTRAWIDE choice?

note I have a Skylake i5, so bottleneck ing is not an issue nor is power an issue.

MSI GE72 Apache Pro-242 - (5700HQ : 970M : 16gb RAM : 17.3" : Win10 : 1TB HDD : Razer Anansi : Some mouse) - hooked up to a 34UM58-P (WFHD) in dual screen

Is it just these games?? Cause if u want 60fps then u will need a 980.... And for AAA games at 60fps an overclocked 980ti would be the best choice

Best of the best with no compromises in FPS and quality -GTX 980Ti

Most sensible choice if you're on a budget - R9 390

I would be picking a R9 390, or 980ti. I have a 3440x1440 running on SLI 970s and AAA games get 60-80FPS (Witcher 3, Fallout 4)

go ahead and get a 980Ti if you ever start getting into AAA titles. Even then they won't run at max settings.

~` please , don't let my whole life burn down `~

- why can't i just focus right now? -

How do you think a 970 would perform alone? Or versus a single 390?

League and CSGO you would be able to get over 60 fps easy but anything remotely hard to run they will fall on there face pretty much with the settings turned up to high/ultra.

I'd only consider a 980ti capable of that resolution.

Okay, thank, Im fine with lowering settings as long as I stay at native resolution

390 would perform better, and you'd have the benefit of 8GB VRAM vs 3.5GB that the 970 has.

A single 970 would run Dota, LoL, and CSGO fine at 60fps but anything other than that and you'd be having troubles.

Nothing that you'd notice. Just make sure you have plenty of case airflow and room around the card. Look at Sapphire, Asus, and MSI for your brand choices as they all have good coolers and custom PCBs.
