The other day I was with a friend of mine, and we were playing Fallout 4 on his PC. I'm not a gamer, at all. I am a member of LTT strictly for the productivity etc side of things. I usually dont see how people would think it's fun, but after playing Fo4, I really started to enjoy the game.

I currently have a 15" macbook pro with retina display. I really want to be able to play Fo4 (dont tell me to use a VM, I dont have enough space on my ssd), on a pc. I would also like to be able to connect my capture card and stream music production from my laptop to twitch.

I don't have a set budget, but as cheap as possible would be the best. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 1200-1500 I already have some partlists in mind, but I would like to see what you guys can come up with. An overclocking Intel CPU would be preferred, and a case with a sidepanel window would be nice. Also a PSU with removable cables for the future. Possibly one of the EVGA G2 ones.

Thanks!

EDIT: I already have a mouse, keyboard, monitors, etc etc

Welcome to LTT! Feel free to PM me if you just wanna chat, I love conversation!

If you ever have any audio questions, wether it's software, hardware, or production and theory, feel free to ask me. Odds are I can help you, or get you help.

This looks like a really good build. Definitely will take this into consideration.

Although I may throw a 970 in there instead, as some of the features that nvidia has I may use in the future

also, the last part was my same reaction

Fallout 4 is in no way easy to run.  A 260X is a semi decent GPU.

I actually really like this. Some of the features of the Xeon may be useful. I'll do some research, and maybe exchange this for a 4690k or 4790k

if u want better gaming performance, the r9 390 can replace the 970, it performs slightly better at almost the same price, but the 970 comes with nvidia's features ^^

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Love this partlist. May go with this.

Do you think a 970 could comfortably run the game, tho? If I can exchange the 4690k for a 4790k or a 5820k (probably not on the last one lol), and bring the gpu down a bit, I'd be happy lol. For streaming mainly, and I may run some other stuff on it (audio things) to experiment with Windows DAWs
