First time building a PC

Sorry if the tags are a mess/wrong.I'm getting ready to build my first gaming PC and have done as much research as i could. I am still a bit hesitant about the CPU, afraid of damaging it or doing something wrong with the thermal past, i have added and replaced case fans, HDDs, and a graphics card before so im not too worried about those parts though. Never touched a motherboard, CPU, or PSU. I did take this parts list a couple places and it did check out but I'm adding it here just to triple check and so on.I will also be getting a UPS as i do live in an area with quite a few power outages and what one person said was the dirtiest power around, and anti-static mat and wrist band if necessary. So with that jumble of words out of the way, any help would be great.

Would like to keep it at or below USD$3000 and everything i have on this list minus the os and UPS comes from Amazon at about $2609 with 2 day shipping. I guess I'm mainly lookig for any parts that are incompatible or overkill (as HKZeroFive pointed out that the PSU is a bit overkill) I am trying to make this PC last as long as possible as it could be 5+ years before i upgrade again.

Got a budget?

Right off the bat, I can tell you that PSU is overkill. 850W would sufficient for SLI'd 980Tis. Also, are you planning to really use all that storage space? That 500GB SSD pretty much has you sorted for your primary games and OS.

Including peripherals and monitors? Or just the build itself?

Because $3000 can a make pretty worthy 4K rig.

Windows 10 has been amazing and the whole spying on us thing debacle is really a two sided thing. The data their collecting isn't any different than the data collected by google when you're browsing the web.

yeah, all i can seem to find is from the middle of last year or before, so i figured i would ask the question myself on driver stability and all that

Windows 10 is pretty much the way forward. No reason to deliberately hamper yourself with a new build. In terms of the data privacy, it's data that was previously in the hands of software developers - now it is controlled by microsoft. I feel this to be the better option, even if it does seem a little hawkish.

This includes a monitor, operating system, and keyboard. Also, I went with Windows 8.1 it's cheaper and an upgrade to Windows 10 is free right now.

iI have edited the op and so far i have learned that the PSU is overkill (someone told me i would need a 1000W psu for a 980Ti) and that Windows 10 is much better then it was with drivers. It will be a week or more before i can order the parts so anymore info is still useful, thank you for all the info so far.
