legit win8 upgrade from non legit win7?

so is it possible to buy the upgrade version of win8 on my non legit win7?

Just wondering if anyone else tried it

If the windows 7 is "activated", then the legit win8 won't be able to tell the difference.

if you did a good job masking it, if it says your copy of windows is not genuine then no.

You can easily make your copy of windows "genuine" with like 5 or so different methods lol

My copy of windows isn't genuine (I do own a genuine copy of windows 7, but its a student upgrade copy that I got on the cheap years ago, which is a pain to re-install every 6 months and as far as I'm concerned I already paid for the OS, its the same version etc ) and It's activated fully, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

it was ok with me updating windows for 6 months

Have you bought Win8? If not, buy the SystemBuilder (OEM) version. It's cheaper than the Upgrade, and you don't need a previous version of Windows.

If you are student, check if your department is registered to MSDNAA/Dreamspark, as you have Windows 8 Pro full, free, ready to be downloaded.

If you needed to pirate a copy of Windows 7, maybe you need to find a job before you think of buying another OS.

Other spare hypervisors: Dell Poweredge 2950, HP Proliant DL380 G5

Laptops: ThinkPads, lots of ThinkPads
