Really Tight Budget: Core i3 or AMD Quad Core

I am on a small budget of about $500, and I need to escape my current rig (Specs in description)

 

USE CASE

I would like to video edit, so multi core performance is a factor. (This won't be 4k video with 100's of effects, I will just need something that can run snappy, and not have any frustrating lag.)

I will game, but the games I play are not too demanding. I have neither the time, money, or the desire to play AAA (Triple A) titles, so I will be ok if it is not the best performer at single threaded tasks.

I will multitask quite a bit.

 

So, for the price and performance, is AMD still dead, and I will benefit more from a core i3, or will the true quad core be worth it, since the games I play are not too demanding?

What's your location? Budget? Do you need peripherals -- monitor, keyboard, mouse? What about an OS? How much do you really care about gaming -- if you don't care much, then an i5 and an R7 360 might be a better choice altogether.

An FX-4300 can be fairly easily overclocked to 4.5GHz+, but I suspect the performance of a dual core, hyperthreaded i3 might be better.

I live in the US, I listed the budget in the original post, no peripherals needed, no OS needed

I have determined I would most likely use an R9 380. Is the R9 370 an Ok budget option?

If you can somehow squeeze an i5-4440 into the build without sacrificing the R9 380, it's probably worth it. If not, my personal choice would be the i3-6100.

Don't waste your Money on such a piece of Shit like an FX 43xx. (which is NOT a "true" 4 Core). An Athlon X4 860k is even better.
