Good songs for testing sound quality?

EcoBoost

What are some good, generally slower, songs that you guys would recommend for testing various sound quality? I'm looking for something I can use as a general standard between car speakers, PC speakers, headphones, etc. so a good amount of mids and treble, and bass that is there and you can hear but not extremely overkill (plenty of rap songs out there for that). Thanks!

Any song that is mastered correctly is good. Just make sure the song uses all the frequencies and you would be able to tell. I'll just drop links to whatever's on the Top 40 right now.

Hotel California is probably one of the best reference songs for any set of speakers (and simply a great listen). Plus having the song in FLAC is nice, but hefty at 100MB's.

Songs that you listen to the most would be the ones that you'll notice the differences in when going from one sound system to another.  Pretty difficult to pick out difference when you're unfamiliar with a track, unless the speakers are complete crap where distortions are obvious. (100 years and there are still bad speakers being made, surreal)

For what its worth what I use for a "measuring" stick:

The best answer would be to test songs you are familiar with. It is tough to tell the difference between system if you don't have a reference point.

Another good rule would be to use songs that are well mastered. I would argue that this includes songs that aren't mastered too loudly aswell.

I know Hotel Califonia was mentioned. That is a great reference song. I would also suggest Money by Pink Floyd, Sabrina by Einstürzende Neubauten, Ghosts 'n Stuff by Deadma5, Blue in Green by Miles Davis and Bjarkan by Wardruna.

These are just examples and there is plenty of other good reference songs out there.
