Hi. My friends PC has 8 Gb of ram installed, and the BIOS detects them all. But Windows says 8 GB (5.95 Usable). How can this be fixed?

some is reserved for system use, the rest is only used when needed. 5.95 is what is left to be used.

OP is not talking about "in use" vs "available"

he is talking about "usable" ram

but in that screenshot it pretty much shows the same thing does it not? 4GB there but only 2.99 usable? My explanation for why may be off but the end result is the same.

Was that removed recently?  I don't even see that part in Win 10 (just the total)

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

no, usable means the rest basically doesnt exist
such as me, I have 32GB of ram on windows 7 home premium (havent upgraded to 10 yet) so I only have 16GB usable out of 32

there is a virtual limit on home premium so my other 16GB cannot be used by anything until I change my OS

sometimes ram is also made unusable by having an iGPU enabled in the BIOS, because that takes part of your ram and keeps it for graphics only

but I have no idea what would be causing OP to have 2GB unusable ram, since im pretty sure his CPU has no iGPU

Unless it's running a VM, or he's using a RAMdisk.

Which is unlikely.

Is there a setting in your BIOS called Memory Remap or something similar? If there is, enable it.

Almost as cool as my temps

Also, try both of the RAM sticks in another computer incase one of them is dodgy

Your system may have set aside some memory for integrated graphics. Even if you don't use integrated graphics the system still sets aside the RAM anyway.
